maki waits on campus sporting a brand new, much shorter haircut. nobody pays her much mind, because this is the sort of school where expensive outfits, shoes, and bags are commonplace. actually, compared to many others waiting here, her outfit is rather plain-- an oversized sweater, a pair of ironed slacks, and blue flats are all she's sporting aside from her usual bag today.

and the smile on her face is even farther from her usual smile, because it's actually genuine. in fact, her entire expression lights up just a bit when she spies hitomi coming from class.

she hadn't said she was coming. maki had wanted it to be a surprise. "hitomi," she says, conscious of how bare the back of her neck feels, how easy it would be for someone to press cold steel there. she banishes those thoughts to the back of her mind. this is the one place where she's here not as a rocket, but as a sister. "i thought i'd stop by-- you have a three day weekend, right?"

If Maki thinks that she could get the upper hand in this exchange, oh how quickly she is proven wrong. Hurried steps gather an immense amount of momentum, her knees relaxed as if readying to pounce. But at the very last moment, Hitomi stops, flailing a little to catch her balance before straightening up with a sheepish grin.[break][break]

Prim and proper, that is what they expect of her whilst on campus. Leaping at her sister for a great big hug and squealing at the top of her lungs is probably considered the very opposite of that. But while she's here, she can at least reach over for a much milder, calmer hug.[break][break]

"Yeah... three days. Kinda wish it could go longer though! Soooo..." She pulls away, swaying from one foot to another. "How long are you sticking around for?"

it would be nice if she could stay the entire weekend, wouldn't it? it's been some time since they were able to hang out for more than just a few hours. maki's been so busy with her double life, as she monitors both the operations of the yukimura conglomerate in hoenn while doing her work for rocket as well. add training in there, and... well, she's had no real downtime, even sacrificing sleep in order to keep everything running smoothly and efficiently.

"i'll be leaving sunday," maki says. two days with her sister is more than she would normally ask for, but their family recognizes a need to at least keep up appearances. hitomi doesn't know about maki's "extracurricular activities", so they don't have much of an excuse for keeping the two apart. hopefully, hitomi will never find out. she's not suited for the family business, and honestly, neither is their older brother seiichi. that's why maki has to shoulder it all.

"how about we get something to eat? do you have any favorite restaurants around here?" she asks her sister.

maki just smiles mysteriously and pats hitomi's head. "i'll see what i can do." leaving later isn't entirely out of the question, but she'll be cutting it close, since she has some documents to prepare in time for a meeting with some potential investors in the yukimura's latest technological venture. normally such a thing would be a job for the heir, but seiichi is frequently late and doesn't seem to take his role very seriously.

as for food... "ramen would be lovely," she says. "is it in walking distance? i can call a flying taxi, if not." admittedly, she is pretty hungry. she could probably put away a whole bowl with ease. maki's something of a big eater, in order to keep up with her training regimen and to maintain enough energy for missions. it isn't something that's expected of the yukimura's ice princess, but it's a necessity ~~even if good food is one of the few pleasures maki feels she's permitted to indulge in.~~
